Lettura del Vangelo secondo Giovanni (Gv 10, 11-18)
Ecco una pagina evangelica che esprime la cultura agro-pastorale di quel tempo. Le pagine della Bibbia conoscono tanti pastori. Era pastore Abele che offriva a Dio i primi nati del suo gregge (Gen 4,4), pastore Abramo (Gen 12,16), pastore Mosè (Es 3,1) pastore è Davide (1Sam 16,11) pastore Giobbe ricco di settemila pecore e tremila cammelli (Gb 1,2). E soprattutto Dio stesso è pastore: “Il Signore è il mio pastore, non manco di nulla” (Sal 22,1); “Ecco io stesso cercherò le mie pecore e ne avrò cura” (Ez 34,11ss.). E mentre allora questa immagine pastore-gregge rivelava l’intensa relazione di cura del pastore per il suo gregge suo decisivo bene, oggi questa immagine evoca piuttosto una condizione di passività tipica del gregge.
